QuestionMy electric mower used to run fine when I first started it. Then after about 15 minutes, it would stop, as though it were ground fault interupted. I'd have to let it sit for 5 minutes or so and go weed, then I could hit the reset button and restart it. The longer I mowed the shorter the mowing time became (sometimes down to 2-3 minutes and the longer the wait time became (sometimes up to 10-15 minutes).
Yesterday I took the mower out to cut my lawn for the first time this year. It stopped all together. Now when I try to start it it whines a little, but it does not start.
Can this be fixed? Would a normal lawnmower repair person know how to fix it?
Thanks
AnswerBasically there are only a few parts that cost feasible to repair on electric mowers; switch, cord, rectifer.
The rectifer converts AC house current to DC current for the motor. You can test the rectifer with a multimeter.
Do you have a multimeter?
You can also check the switch and cord with the multimeter.
Let me know if you have a multimeter.
