QuestionMichael,
I am pretty sure the starter on my Troy-Bilt lawn tracotr is bad. Two questions about replacing it:
1) It looks like I have to lift out the fly wheel to get access to the bolts holding the starter in place. How can I lock the flywheel so I can loosen the large nut holding it down?
2) Anything to watch out for in changing the starter? Like aligning the teeth to the flywheel, for example.
Thanks in advance,
John
AnswerHi John,
I don't think the flywheel needs to be removed, to remove the starter. If it does, a pneumatic impact wrench would be best on the flywheel nut. Or a strap wrench may work to hold the flywheel.
No tooth alignment is needed.
Let me know how you make out.
Michael
