Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): lawnmower, clutch adjustment, spark plug wire

I just bought a used Toro GTS mower which seemed to work great when I saw it run. Took it home and tried to cut grass, but the blades turn for only a few seconds and then stop turning. The engine continues to run and doesn't stall, just the blade doesn't turn. Is there a clutch adjustment or did I just make a bad purchase?

Hi Paul,

Unlike riders, lawn mowers usually do not have clutches.  I would suspect the blade or it's holder is slipping.  Remove the spark plug wire and lift the front of the deck to inspect under it.  A key might be missing from the crankshaft.
