Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): MTD 12.5 Riding mower, Remove Rear Wheel, wheel assembly, lawn tractor
QuestionHow do you remove the Rear wheel on a MTD 12.5 Riding Mower- the bolt is out- I can see a Sq. off Axel, but it won't budge, is there a secret to removing this wheel- or do I need a Puller.
AnswerI'll give it to you straight...this can be the single most ignorant thing to remove on a lawn tractor because the factory never thinks to put anti-seize compound on the axle before it's assembled. I have had to cut them off with a torch before. If you are changing a tire or tube, you don't need to have the wheel assembly off to do that. If you must get it off, good luck and make sure you put anti-seize compound on it before you re-assemble. Hope this helps.
