Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): electrical, jumper cable, solenoid
QuestionNew battery installed last week. It sounds like it is clicking near the silinoid. Won't start even when jumping across silinoid post. What do you think?
Thanks
AnswerThe problem could be the starter. It could also be a bad connection at the starter or the solenoid could be bad. Does the engine turn over by hand or is it seized or a drive accessory engaged that is creating more drag than the starter can overcome? If not, check the connections. If they are OK, try using a jumper cable directly from the positive post of the battery to the starter terminal...if it turns over, it's likely a bad solenoid. Hope this helps.
