Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 30 amp fuse keeps blowing, briggs and stratton, amp fuse

put new ignition switch in fuse keeps poping . with old ignition switch nothing happens . i have power to everything . can you help? this is a craftsmen rideing mower with a briggs and stratton engine.           1998

Hi Al,

I would double check the connections to make sure that a ground is not connected to a positive terminal.  If all looks good, start tracing each wire, using a test light or volt meter.  Somewhere, 12 volts is getting to ground.
With the old switch being defective, I assume, it didn't send power to the short.  The new switch is.
