Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): replace alternator, sartain, cranks

I have a craftsman 42"lawn mower, Model 917270514 I put  new batteries in and it cranks up. After a few days not enough power in battery to crank. I need to know how to replace the alternator. Purchased 7-99. I have replaced the starter and alternator.

I'm confused.  You need to know how to replace the alternator but you mention that you have replaced the starter and alternator.
