Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): fuel filter, briggs and straton, horsepower engine

can u tell me where the fuel filter is on a briggs and straton 4.4 horsepower engine it will start when i put gas in the carb but will not stay running i changed the gas and still same thing the springs do not seem to be working either i looked and the plastic piece that should hold it open when running is in good shape just does not seem to move the springs

I don't fully understand your question but if the engine runs on a squirt of fuel, the carb is dirty.  If there is also an issue with the governor, you will need to take the model and type number to a Briggs dealer or their website to see if the assembly is correct.
