Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn Mower Gas Leak, sears craftsmen, float bowl

Hi Michael,
I recently received a second lawn mower from a friend ( Sears Craftsmen 4.0 Mulcher )  Upon fill it with gas I noticed that the fuel started leaking out of the air filter.  Can you tell me what's going on?  Does it sound like a simple fix or a costly problem?

Hi Tim,

I suspect a problem with the carbs' float and needle/seat assembly.  There may be dirt preventing the valve from closing, a bad float or a worn seat.  Remove the carb or just the float bowl and take a look.
