Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): pull starter on Craftsman push mower, push mower, recoils

Question
The pull string on the mower is broke, my brother-in-law pulled it off.  How would I go about putting it on?

The model # is 917.377593
it is a 22 inch cut power gear drive

If you could help I would greatly appreciate it!!

I recommend for everyone that writes in about recoils to take it into a good shop.  It can be more costly and potentially dangerous to repair one yourself if you never have.  If you are lucky, they will let you observe while they repair it so you can see what's involved.  Hope this helps.
