I have a power trim edger with a Briggs 3.5IC engine, Engine will start with fuel put directly into carb, but will not continue to run. I think I need to clean carb, however I have never cleaned a carb, can you please give me detailed directions on how to successfully do so.

AnswerYou will remove the carb and tank as one assembly. The only linkage(s) you will have to dis-connect are the governor rod and throttle cable, if you have a throttle cable. The only real challanging part is of the job is installing the diaphragm and gasket. This is actully quite easy, you just have to replace them in the correct order. When you seperate the tank and carb the diaphagm and gasket will stick together. Carefully seperate them and remember how they go back on. Compressed air and carburetor cleaner work well to clean the carb. Just re-assemble and you should be back in business.
