Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): add oil to 49cc moped, cycle oil, oil injection

I added oil to my 1984 49cc Yamaha QT moped, but i noticed after I put it in that it was for a chain saw - it was to be mixed with gas for the Stihl chain saw.  It is 2 cycle oi, will it hurt my moped?  Do I use 2 cycle oil in the future?

Hi Karen,

I assume that you added it to the fuel or to an oil injection tank.  As long as your bike is a 2 cycle then you are fine and can use any 2 cycle oil in the future.  If pre-mixing with fuel, I recommend a 40 to 1 ratio.  (3.2 ozs. of oil to 1 gallon of fuel.)
