as soon as we turn the key the fuse blows, we thought it might be generator any advise

Hi Judy,

It's hard to guess what might be the cause.  I would start at the fuse and trace the side that goes away from the battery.  Disconnect and unplug what you can and either: remove the fuse and with a test light, check for a wire shorted to ground or with a fuse in place, connect things one at a time, while turning the key, to isolate what component is defective.
