Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): riding lawn mower, briggs and stratton, lawn chief

i have a lawn chief mower 14.5 horse briggs and stratton  42" mowing deck model 42a707 every time i engage the mowing deck the tractor stalls.do you have any idea what could be wrong.

Hi Ernie,

After checking for a grass clogged deck, you will need to remove the deck belt, so you can isolate it from the engine.  Then turn each pulley and blade spindle until you find one that is binding or frozen.  If everything is okay, then engage the drive on the tractor and see if it still stalls without the deck belt attached.  Listen for noises also.
