Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): trimmer wont start, weedeater trimmer, exhaust ports

I have a HOMELITE trimmer Medel ZR Series Z625CD that wont start. It ran good until my son in law was using it. I think he put too much 2stroke oil in the mixture.He was using it when it just stopped running.The engine turns over easily.It is not seized up.It has a good spark so electrics seem ok.Can you help please. I have just bought a new WEEDEATER trimmer but would like to get the homelite running for a spare. thankyou GEORGE

First, if you suspect that too much oil was used, remove and check the exhaust ports for carbon-plugging.  Also check the spark arrestor screen in the muffler.  This is a common problem.  Let me know if you find something else and have further questions.  Hope this helps.
