QuestionHi, I have a 12hp briggs that doesnt run. It has good spark and its getting fuel, but I think compression is the problem. I pulled the head off and it seems like the valves do not shut completely.Other than that, they seem to operate normally. Is this normal? Or do I have another problem? Any help would be great!
AnswerHi Scott,
Normally the valves should close but some models have an automatic decompression relief, which I am not familiar with.

Your valves may just be sticking. Try some WD-40 to loosen them. Or they may need resurfacing.
Let me know how you make out.
