Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): john deere js63 push mower repair, gas streams, retaining ring

Question
When i gas it up, the gas streams out of the rubber primer button until empty! The carb is probably gunked up from sitting so long! Could it be something simple that I could fix?

Hi Martin,

If gas comes out of the button itself, then I would look for a tear or hole in the rubber.  If defective, replace it.  They are replaced by prying the retaining ring out.  Reinstall the new set with a socket and a hammer.
