AnswerMost of the time the carburetor gaskets/diaphragms need to be replaced. The kits cost anywhere from $10-$20.
I'm not too sure how much you paid for the trimmer, but I have seen some of the Feather Lites sell for around $50. My point is that I wouldn't spend much on parts if a new trimmer is that cheap.
I would recommend checking the engine compression before purchasing parts. You need 90 psi compression for a strong running trimmer.
On a side not, I have had customers tell me they got their trimmers going again by using a product called Sea Foam. I've seen this stuff at auto parts stores but have never tried it. While your there I would also get a new spark plug. I have fixed lots of trimmers and saws by just replacing the plug.
