QuestionI have a 1981 Skidoo Everest 500
When machine is in idle the track still turns;
The throttle cable appears in good shape, and the
throttle moves freely and is not frozen.
Although i replaced the drive belt(original is a
Bombardier # 414-3758-00) The dealer sold me a
replacemnt (Dayco Max/# MAX 1103), is this the
proper size belt?
I also made sure the idle screw on the carb was
set properly.
Any ideas?
Thank You,
Eric.
AnswerHello Eric,
It sounds like your dealer gave you the correct belt, although I would recomend using the Gates 32T-4400. It sounds like your sled may be idling a little to high, try adjusting the idle screw counterclockwise just until the sled's track stops. It's normal for the track to turn a bit if the sled is rasied or on a stand. Somtimes the clutch sticks, in which case I would recomend spraying a clutch cleaner like Comet clutch spray on the arms, spring, and ect. As a last resort I would replace the clutch spring, as they weaken with age, and replace the old spring with a Comet 204818. Any of the parts I have mentioned above are availible through Dennis Kirk at www.denniskirk.com, or 1800-328-9280. I hope this information helps, and let me know if I can answer any other questions you might have. Good luck with the sled! Mr.W
