QuestionI have a 2003 GMC Sierra pick up. My son drove home 5 days ago and parked the truck, now we can not turn the key in the ignition nor can we get out of park. I have tried rocking vehicle. I have disconnected battery to try resetting things. I can start vehicle with remote start and turn wheel both directions. Truck is un drivable and I fear un towable since back wheels are locked and front wheels are not.
AnswerHi Brian:
Sorry about your truck. This is a fairly common problem with the locks on vehicles today.
We have recently uploaded pages and a description of how to replace the lock cylinder on GM vehicles (for a small fee). They are broken down into step by step detailed instructions. Here is a link to that page. This covers most of the locks from 1995 to present.

Lastly, I would have a new lock cylinder in hand before you begin, to see what you are working on (hidden in the column) and accomplish finishing this job quickly.
Good luck
