Steering Column Repair: contour tilt housing assmebly, ford contour, tilt mechanism

Goodday,Mr Gan!

Can you please tell me where I can find a labelled diagram (or 'cutaway' or illustration, etc) of the tilt housing assembly in a 1998 ford contour (we call it the 'mondeo' in South Africa)? In paticular, I need to know which components work with the tilt lever to lock the column into place so that there is no 'slipping' once the driver chooses his prefeered steering column position. I have a loose toothed clip of sorts which I suspect fits onto the toothed part attached to the housing itself, but I cannot figure out how it is mounted in the housing.

Hello Russ:

Here is a link to a page that displays the breakdown (exploded view).  I don't think it will help you much as the tilt mechanism is part of a larger housing assembly.  The only way you can  repair it is to replace it.  Sorry
