Steering Column Repair: 79 corvette telescopic steering, horn cap, assembly instruction

Hi , I have a 79 corvette that I m doing interior work on and the other day the telescopic steering popped out !! I dont know how I did this nor do I know how to
Get it back down ??? How is this feature activated ??

Hi John:

The telescopic column releases by rotating the ring around the horn cap.  It should turn about 1/3 rotation loosening and tightening in either direction.  Here is a picture of the assembly.  You are looking to rotate the part labeled 'lever' just below #6
