Steering Column Repair: Steering Shaft, chevy malibu, steering wheel

i just replaced steering shaft on 05 chevy malibu because there was a popping in the steering wheel. Now im hearing a load noise coming from the from of the car. I can hear my engine and wat sounds like air coming in. My car use to be quite and now its not. This never started until i had then fix this problem. wat seems to be causing this, could they have done something wrong?????

Hi Carrian:

It sounds like you may have left the insulator off of the floor when you replaced the shaft.  This is a piece of rubber and foam that covers the lower column bracket at the floor.  Aside from that, I can't imagine what else may be causing that.  (It' real hard to diagnose a noise over the internet, sorry)
