Steering Column Repair: chevy steering column swap, chevy k1500, chevy steering column

hello i just recently changed the steering column in my 1990 chevy k1500 with a column out of a 1991 k1500. everything works like its suppose to but when i press the brake all my lights come on lights as in, tail lights and signal lights. have any idea what could be wrong?

Hi Travis:

It sounds like a bad body ground. I would check to see if the strap going form the battery to the body has been compromised or is too rusty.  Unless you removed a body ground strap under the dash, attached to the mounting bolts of the column, I wouldn't think it's anything you did.
