Steering Column Repair: 86 chevy suburban, chevy suburban, salvage yards

im buying the truck from a friend and the steering column is broken. i have another friend that has the same year silverado, would i be able to use the silverado column in the suburban?

I am not sure of the interchanges, but if you try this site, you will be able to see which vehicle work and interchange.  You will need to enter a lot more information than you provided me and then you can look at what other vehicle come up.
