Steering Column Repair: 85 LaSabre Steering Column post-theft repair, rear wheel drive, deterence

We're in Minneapolis.  Are salvage steering columns still available for mid 80s GMs and what is it, exactly, that I am asking for?  Or can they be repaired?  And perhaps most importantly, what can we do post-repair to thwart thefts.  In the meantime, we've used "The Club" on the wheel.  Thanks in advance

Hi,

You should be able to find a used column. Some compitent mechanics can rebuild them. After market parts are readily available.
This was a cut off year of the rear wheel drive/ front wheel drive. Is this rear wheel drive? Is it a tilt column?
I have rebuilt thousands of these columns from theft.

The CLUB in my opinion is junk! Thieves commonly cut the weak steering wheel to remove it and now the thief has a weapon.
We still sell the "Chicago Collar" which is permanately installed and offers visual deterence as well.
You should also have a hidden starter kill installed.
