Subaru Repair: Stalling, best bet, stop sign

Hi
My son owns a 2000 Forester with 150K miles. Lately when he stops (like at a Stop Sign or Light) the engine shakes and shuts down and needs to be restarted

When he Drives at higher speeds he sometimes loses speed and acceleration and it take a moment or two until he regains momentum

He cleaned the the Idle Sensor and it was a bit better for a day or so

There isn't anything I can advise you on here.  A skilled tech familiar with Subaru, local to you is your best bet.


He cleaned the idle sensor?  With what?  Carb cleaner should never be used as it can damage components.
