Subaru Repair: Speedometer and tachometer problem on 2004 Forester, 12v batteries, warning lights
QuestionSpeedometer and tachometer don't read. Everything else works fine. All fuses check out- voltmeter reads >13V on both ends of all fuses. Background- found battery dead yesterday; put on one of those carry around 12V batteries and jump started engine. I drove it and it ran fine, but reads zero on both tach and speedometer. No warning lights illuminated either.
Thank you,
Fred
Answerwith out checking the car for myself I couldn't tell you much. I would guess a fuseable link or a shorted wire somewhere in the system. This one may be a tricky and expensive fix. It could also be your instrument panel. Sorry I can't be more help.
