Subaru Repair: Brake light & Battery light on, subaru legacy outback, daytime running lights

My 1999 Subaru Legacy Outback has a problem with the brake & battery lights coming on at the same time. When this occurs at night I notice my headlights flicker from normal to brighter. Also my daytime running lights do not operate when these lights come on. Any insight?

Get your alternator checked. Any problem starting the car in the morning? My best guess is that your alternator isn't putting out what it should and some of your systems are starting to shut down. If you aren't having any starting problems, then I am probably wrong. Probably will need an experienced Subaru tech if your alternator is ok because this one could be a bad connection somewhere.
