Subaru Repair: Speedometer & Check Engine Light, speedometer check, subaru loyale
QuestionFrank,
I have a 92 Subaru Loyale stationwagon (125K miles, manual 5 speed, 1.8L engine). Today, on the way to work, the speedometer suddenly dropped from speed to zero...a few minutes later, the "Check Engine" light came on. I experienced no drop in oil pressure, no fluctuations in voltage, and no change in temperature. I checked the fluids (oil & tranny) and they are both full. I can't find any info about the speedometer cable (or anything associated therewith) in my repair manual.
Any ideas as to what I should look into and/or repair?
Thanks,
Lee Lance

AnswerHello Lee,
The only thing I can tell you, is to take it to someone who can scan the computer and see what codes are there. The check engine light means that a code should have been set, and should hopefully lead the technician to problem. I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Frank
