Questionmy car was tow in Elgin,IL about 4 mils to the towing shop and i had to pay $132.00 dollars for the towing why was the amount so much????????
Answeroh I can go into huge details on the cost of towing vehicles, but your question does not help me with the reason it was towed.
If it was towed as a police ordered tow, then it generally is under a contracted rate for the services, which is established between the tower and the police department.
If it was towed as a result of illegal parking in a parking lot, the you are at the low end of a lot of prices that I have seen for that service.
If it was towed for a disabled or broke down reason then you are kind of at the high end of pricing for that service from what I know of some areas rates.
way down here in Alabama where I work, just for a break down tow, you would be charged 75.00 plus 3.00 a towed mile.... Police ordered tow, is 175.00 plus 4.00 a mile. But the rates I just listed are for here in Alabama... I know rates in New York City are higher, just like in Miami, Chicago, San Diego, and many other places...
Hope this helps
