Towing Issues: 1996 ford aerostar, ford aerostar van, auto repossession
QuestionI have a 96 ford aerostar van that is rear wheel drive, i need to put a hitch on it to use a tow dolly to cars with. My question is, can this van pull a vehicle on a tow dolly and burn itself up in the process? its well maintained and runs real good, I do auto repossession and the doctor took me out of the truck for medical reasons and now all I have left is my tow dolly to use to pick cars that people don't want anymore and I just go get them, and tow them to my impound yard, think this van can do this? thank you for your time
AnswerIf you are in the repo business then I know you are familiar with towing cars. I specialize in wrecker related towing issues and yes, repo issues. I am familiar with a Ford Aerostar but I do not know what the towing capacity would be. As for a tow dolly that will decrease the amount of tongue weight, but most Aerostars that I have seen I would not trust to be able to tow (and stop) vehicles on a tow dolly. I would recommend contacting the local dealership or your owners manual. If it were me I would get a pick up truck.
