Got any figures on how many impound tows in NYC and impound/recovery tows
nationally in an average year?

I have no idea of how to actually track or compile this kind of information...

I would guess that the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs might know how many tows are done, but that would be a reach. Police are generally called or notified when the vehicle is impounded as that way they do not take stolen reports on the towed vehicle.
