QuestionI was recently towed in clackamas, oregon for being parked in a "no unautorized cars" parking zone at an apartment complex. I asked the tow truck driver on the scene if he had already contacted local law enforcement before starting the tow of my vehicle and he said no. here is a link to the oregon state laws on towing
http://www.leg.state.or.us/07reg/measpdf/sb0100.dir/sb0116.en.pdf
it clearly states on page 4, section 11 ORS 98.812 that local law enforcement must be enformed before begining a tow. does this mean that the tow truck company did not follow the correct steps in towing a vehicle and should be held liable for the entire process?
AnswerBrian, in a quick review of that law (which I am not sure "each word and paragraph" became the actual law, it says "THE PROPERTY OWNER" SHALL notify the police.
The tow company does not have to notice the police before towing, under what I see there, but that part might of been changed...
I am not sure what you are looking for, but I am guessing that you were towed, and as such want to try and get your money back...
