Towing Issues: Your response to a question about towing with a Jeep Liberty, jeep liberty, gcwr

You answered someone's question in 2006 about towing a 4 x 8 U-Haul trailer with a 2002 Jeep Liberty, 6 cyl RWD.  You gave the following numbers:

GVWR: 5350#
GCWR: 9850#
GAWR: F/R 2750#/3150#
CURB: 3898#

My question is where did you get these figures and was this for the Jeep Liberty Sport or Limited?

I have signed papers but not taken delivery on a 2004 Jeep Liberty Sport and the salesman told me its towing capacity is 5600# but tonight I looked it up online and it says 3500#.  My trailer is 3500# and I'm very upset that they may have lied to me.  I won't be able to pull my trailer and that is my main focus in my life right now. I'm very upset about this.

I think it was off a "spec sheet online" for the vehicle... Most likely what you found...

I have given up on answering questions like this, as information varies so much and can be altered a bit with different tires and hitch assemblies...
