QuestionI'm a full time career firefighter for 27 yrs. I have just started operating a light duty flat bed truck part time and I am looking for a mannual that I could research while responding to, or while on scene of vehicle tow points. Is there one? that I could purchase. Thanks for your time.
AnswerWell Jeff, there are manuals and such which will help you learn where to hook and not to hook..
Granted the manuals will not be as full of information as your IFSTA or NFPA books but they are out there.
AAA makes towing and lock out manuals which are available from either the local AAA office or from a few places online like
www.awdirect.com
www.towpartsnow.com
There are also manuals on towing and training programs (seminars) which are put on by a few organizations...
www.wreckmaster.com
They are good programs to check into...
Also depending on what State you are in, there are training programs available from the local tow truck association.
Plus we have tow shows (trade shows) which are all over the United States and you can find books and other supplies at the shows...
And there are a few web sites which are really discussion areas for dealing with towing..
www.tow411.net
or
www.towtalk.net
Good luck and happy towing, I know its fun cause I love it even after driving tow truck for 29 years.
