Towing Issues: towing capacity, cab 4x4, liter engine

Hi Don my question is; what is the towing capacity (suggested trailer weight) of a 1998 Dodge Dakota extended cab 4x4 with a 3.9 liter engine and a 5 speed manual transmission. Thanks in advance Ian.

Edmunds.com lists the towing capacity as 4000 pounds.  If your vehicle has a specific tow package, it is possible it may be higher than that.  If you have an owners manual, it should have tow capacity listed in it.  And you can visit a Dodge dealer and see if they have information back to '98.

Also, thanks for providing lots of details.  The typical question is "I have a 1998 dodge truck, what is the tow capacity".  Just a few details missing.  Nice that you recognized it takes more than that to get any sort of answer.
