Towing Issues: Towing with 97 Toyota Corolla, toyota corolla, 5x8 trailer

I put a class 1 hitch on my 97 Toyota corolla. Is it safe to tow a 5X8 trailer from colorado to Ohio? They say load limit is 1500 ibs,Is it including car's weight or not?

I would think that it would be the weight of the trailer and what ever is in the trailer... The vehicle was not really designed to tow trailers

I would be real careful in doing this as the trailer will be heavy to start with...   I would check with UHAUL as they have great lists of what can be done towing trailers, with what vehicles....  ( I kind of wish I could get ahold of that for information here.)
