QuestionI am looking at buying a 5th wheel trailer and plan to pull a 3rd trailer that is 12 ft long to pull motorcycles. What is the California law to pull such trailers and what are the length limits?
AnswerWell, while I have troubles with seeing pickups towing a 5th wheel and then another trailer behind it (its a truck driver thing about licensing) its legal for "triple tows" (the tow vehicle and then 2 trailers... Biggest thing is that it takes alot of room to move around corners and such while driving. Plus backing up is out of the question if you did get into a jam.
here is a link to a web site which has all the different laws for states...

41. Total maximum combined length of 65 ft.

The licensing issue I talk about is one which shows the differance between a COMMERICAL TRUCK DRIVVER LICENSE (CDL) and your standard drivers license for the general public..
If I drive a big truck and have 2 trailers I have to have a special license to allow for this.. Now if you take your pickup or motor home and tow 2 trailers you can do it all day long usually...
I do know that there are some special licenses for vehicles and combinations but not always..
Thats what I was talking about..
