QuestionI was hoping you could help me figure out the approximate towing capacity of a 1998 Honda Civic (standard transmission). More specifically, will it be able to tow a 4'x8' Uhaul trailer from Washington, DC to Seattle, WA?

Answerwell as much as I would love to answer this question, I have not been able to find answers on the towing capacity of the honda civic
Since you mentioned U Haul, they have wonderful books there about all the towing needs and capacitys of vehicles. But keep in mind one thing, that the honda civic is low to the ground and a low profile (height) vehicle and most trailers are high profile. The wind factor going down the road will cause alot of drag and resistance to the vehicle.
Personally, I think it would not work. If you have just a small ammount of stuff to move and you are taking the honda out there cause you are moving, it might be worth looking into renting a small truck and towing the honda. If thats not the cause and you are just moving some stuff out there, check into shipping it with a trucking line or something.
The potential to damage the vehicle is great and the repair costs would be high.
