Towing Issues: how do you calculate towing capacities in terms of lifting capacities, resistance factors, towing capacities

we are manufacturer's and dealers in material handling equipments. we supply a lot of our materials in shipping and offshore industry.
could you suggest me what is the formula for deriving towing capacity if we know the lifting capacity of a particular product.

well  I am going to ask you to send me an Email with more information about what kind of equipment you are talking about and what you want to do with it..

As you know  a straight up lift (crane style ) is way differant than a towing operation where you are overcoming rolling resistance factors.  

In tow trucks there is a forumla for figuring out the safe towing capacity, but its a bit hard to explain in here without the pictures and graphs.
