my Husband and I are looking into buying a trailer but need to know what we can tow. He has a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4x4 5.9 eng.size thank you
Answer -
Cab design (standard cab vs. club cab vs. -quad cab) as well as the rear end ratio and transmission will affect the overall tow rating of the truck. That being said, the lowest tow rating for the information you have provided is 7,000lbs. Please look into a weight distributing setup if you are planning to go that big (eg. Equalizer, EZ-Lift...).

it is a quad cab and is 7,ooolbs the Gross weight?
AnswerThat narrows it down to between 7,000lbs and 8,350lbs. That is the rating for the Gross Trailer Weight. Also, please check the GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating) inside the driver's door jam. It will indicate the limit for the weight of the trailer and truck together.
