QuestionDear sir,
Please advise me. I own a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Short Wheel base, 5.2 litre v8. from time to time I have to move a trailer or RV Travel Trailer. My truck is just under the applications optimal payload/trailering specs, but as I dont have another truck this year I will probably have to do this for another 6 months or so. What is the best way to back up my rear end suspension, I have a load leveling hicth which helps tremendously, but I have been looking at add A leaf and Air Bad reinforcement systems, could you please share your knowledge in regards to the above scenario.
Thanks in advanced,
Jason Bel
AnswerJason, well where to start.
First of all, I am not sure how far you are moving the trailer, or how big it is. That is a key factor, weight of the units.
Your truck is one that I have seen move trailers before, but they also have done some modifications, transmission coolers for automatics, and the load leveling air bag systems. I know there are lots of differant ones available, I do not have a favorite one, but have driven a few tow trucks that had the Timbren Suspension Enhancement system on them, Firestone makes a rear mount air helper system which from what I have heard is a good system.
If you have a Camping World store near you, go check them out and see what they say is the BEST FIT for your vehicle.
