Toyota Repair: high cold idle
QuestionHi,
I have a 96 Avalon 6 cyl. that idles high around 2000-2500 RMPs when it's cold. I takes about 6-8 mins to go down and when it does it still hovers around 1500 rpms. I won't go down any further. Can you help?
Thanks
Answerpossibly the idle air control valve is hanging up, it's located on the bottom of the throttle body, the usual repair is to remove the throttle body and then the valve, in most cases both can be cleaned and the IAC valve freed up to solve this problem, there are some cases where the valve is corroded to the point that it may have to be replaced.
