Toyota Repair: interchangeability, corolla dx, manual transmission

Question
I have a 96 Corolla DX with a 1.8 ltr eng and an auto trans.  Will the tranny form a 96 prism work in lieu of the real thing?

Answer
Check to see if it the same identification (e.g. my '85 Celica has a W58 manual transmission, any W58 should fit.)  Call a junkyard or transmission store to see if they are compatible.  Or refer to the Hollander Exchange manual - the interchangability Bible.
