Toyota Repair: 2002 camry 4 cyl XLE, automatic gearbox, stoplights

Hi,Automatic Gearbox , but I can't shift the stick anymore from P to D , without pushing the small black button . Why is it blocked ?Can I override this system ? .And all my stoplights are not working anymore .Please advise,thank you

The reason it can't be put in "D" is because the stop lights are not working so the stop light issue needs to be addressed first, check the fuse inside the lower left of the dash marked "stop", if the fuse is good there are two other possible causes, the stop light switch is bad or all the bulbs are burned out.
