Toyota Repair: unintended acceleration, lexus vehicles, floor mats

Given the recent attention given to unintended acceleration in Toyota and Lexus vehicles, I'm curious as to your experience with this alleged phenomenon. Have you witnessed it in your years of experience? Do you think it's a real technical problem, or just human error? Do the floor mats really explain this problem? Many people are complaining of it that don't even have floor mats? What explanations can you give? Thanks.

No I have not experienced this condition, toyota suspects a problem with additional floor mats added to the existing factory approved mats or aftermarket floor mats and has issued an advisory to let customers know to remove the added floor mats, toyota is planning to send additional information to customers regarding this issue in the near future.
