Toyota Repair: changing battery, negative battery, battery terminal

Question
Have a 97 camry.  changed the battery and nothing.  alarm system went off several times.  is the alarm system preventing the car from starting??

Answer
Try doing the following: Open the driver side door, disconnect the negative battery terminal, put the key into the ON position, leave door open, reconnect the battery, the alarm should stay off, get in and close the door, it should now start normally.
