Toyota Repair: 94 toyota 4-runner headlights, toyota 4 runner, driving at night

Question
I have a 1994 toyota 4-runner that recently when I'm driving at night all the lights shut off inside and out.
When I push the lever for highbeams they all comeback on.
What could this be??

There are two possibilities, the headlight relay or the headlight switch which is part of the combination switch on the steering column. The headlight relay is located under the hood in the relay block and is a lot cheaper to replace than the switch so I would recommend just trying to replace the relay at this time and see what happens, if the problem persists then replace the combination switch.
