Toyota Repair: 1992 toyota camry tranny problem, toyota camry, shifting gears

Hi,
My 92 camry LE V6 3.0 has to start in low gear first and then to drive. It doesnt engage the drive right of the bat but once in low gear and start moving to about 5-10MPH I can switch to the Drive selector and it runs fine. Need advice or help!

Transmissions are not my specialty. TO the best of my knowledge concerning transmission troubles, keeping the fluid clean, filter changed, and linkage lubricated should be all an owner has to do to maintain the operation of the transaxle. If you encounter issues with shifting gears, it is generally an internal problem and the transaxle needs to be pulled out and serviced. Continue to ask questions and I believe you will find this a common answer. Sorry.
